Okay Survivors great news from the land of Lyndon. My finals have officially been completed and I am now only waiting for the final grades to show up on my transcript. Let me tell you I think this was my most stressful semester yet and believe me I brought it right down to the wire on this one.
I had two presentations, 3 papers, and a portfolio all due this week and so far so good on the grading. Oh, and by the way one of those presentations was my Senior Thesis, which I'm going to brag about. I managed to impress my professor so much that he came right out and said I had a great presentation.. Yup, that happened.
But in all seriousness I want to know where the hell the semester went. I mean I just started my senior year and I'm already halfway through? I mean don;t get me wrong I am totally ready for the month long break but I'm starting to realize just how close graduation is.
I'll go into that freak out later but I just wanted to give you all an update and let you know I'm not going completely insane yet... Just most of the way there, now it's on to Christmas, which my lovely fiance Nick will be there for, and a month of work at Michael's. Oh and seriously if you want to catch up with me while I'm home give me a shout. I don't have too much planned yet.
Talk at you soon and Keep on surviving.

Study Break with Six Feet to Heaven.
Live performance of Six feet to Heaven's "Beefcake"
Saturday, December 13, Lyndon State College held a Study Break for it's students. They asked campus bands and musicians to come perform for their community.
Lucky enough for me Six Feet to Heaven was one of those bands Which allowed me to follow up on my previous video of them in the studio. This time I got them Live and bring to you one of their most popular songs, Beefcake.
I also included a slideshow of pictures from their performance. These are set to another one of their songs called Black Rose. My personal favorite.
I talked to the guys after the show and found out they hope to start recording in the studio after break and from their hope to bring you a CD including both these songs and many more.

Practice with a Local Band
So this week I sat in on Six Feet to Heaven’s band practice,
the song above is called “I’m not Lost at All” and is a regular in their set
list.
Six Feet is a campus band that was started last year by a
group of freshman with the same love of music and need to play that music.
Though the band has changed some of its members this year it still has the same
great songs and a few more surprises for its upcoming shows.
The Band consists of Lead singer- Asher Hill, Bassist- Nick
Potter, Lead Guitarist – Dan Martin, Back up Guitarist- Zeb McCoy, and Drummer/
Backup Vocalist – Greg Plourde.
Though much goofing off does happen in practice they also
get a lot done. While I sat in on their two hour allotted practice I watched
them go through almost a whole set list and still have time to mess around and
come up with a few surprises for their upcoming show.
After practice I talked to Nick about was it was like being
a member of this band, to which he replied, “It often feels like I am
babysitting a loving bunch of crocodiles with ADD, but since they have put up
with me I have come to enjoy there crazy antics and have even started to initiate
them. As soon as the music starts though, that’s what I love about them, our
styles of playing mold together into whatever kind of song we are playing and we
become not five different musicians but five goofballs who create one sound
with all of our styles melding and making it ours.”
After you listen to their music you can’t even deny that
their styles do meld to make some great music. I also asked Nick what was in
the future for the band.
“We are
preparing for our show on December 4th, here at the college. And we
also have a show coming sometime in the next few weeks.”
So there you have it if you would like to see more from this
band you can go out to their show on Thursday and see them live. If you can’t
make it to the show you can also find their music on sound cloud, and find them
on Facebook.
As for me I’ll be at the show on Thursday and hope to see
you there.

It's Black Friday People not Black Thanksgiving
So... Thanksgiving break is only a week away. This is a great thing and I have called my boss at Michael's to tell her that I can work over vacation. Again great I can get a little extra cash... Downside? Michael's is open from 4pm to 2am on Thanksgiving... I am hoping I will get it off and only have to work Black Friday, I know that sounds insane but I would rather work that than Thanksgiving. I know I know I shouldn't complain they are giving me hour over break when they don't have to but still... In my opinion it's one of those holidays that the only stores that should be open are grocery stores and even those should close at a reasonable time o allow employees to spend time with there families... and who exactly is going to go to a craft store at midnight.. I mean Black Friday should stay Black Friday and leave Thanksgiving be... anyway that's the end of my rant.
In other news I am getting a calendar with my photography professionally printed and if I'm not mistaken they will be available for purchase with all the proceeds coming to me... which is nice. Though I need to get more details on that let me know if any of you want the link. It should be available in a week or so.. I would appreciate the support.

The link above leads to the Washington Podt's posttv website which is found through their regular sites nav bar. I believe this is a good way for them to set this up. There are people who just want to read the news and not deal with videos and this allows them to do just that. But if you would like to catch the video real quick or don't have time to read the whole story you have that option too. Though not all stories come with a video.

Life at Pineberry
Pineberry Farm is a family run Christmas tree farm in the
small town of Wheelock Vermont.
Owned and operated by the Potter Family for 25 years it has
become well known in the community for their friendly attitudes and great
customer service. Being the newest member of the Pineberry family I hardly know
all the ins and outs of how the farm runs but I sat down with Nick Potter to
find out just how you farm a Christmas tree.
Nick is the youngest grandson of Farm owner Bob Potter and
hopes to take over the farm after graduating college next year.
When I asked Nick what the hardest part of tree farming was
he gave this response “During trimming season it gets very hot and humid.”
I asked Nick to explain exactly what he meant by trimming
season… After aren't Christmas Trees a winter thing?
First he chuckled and
then explained “The winter season is just the big push before we call it a year.
Spring starts off our season with planting, we plant 3 to 6 thousand saplings a
year. After that all 75 thousand trees need to be fertilized. Then comes shearing,
this is how we get the trees to have that perfect cone shape that everyone
loves. 3 months later we start cutting trees to send out to major retailers in
the area.”
When asked, Nick told us that his favorite part of working
on the farm was seeing the children’s faces after picking out their tree and
bringing it back to the car to bring home. “It’s where I get the biggest sense
of satisfaction.”
Pineberry farm also donates about 75 trees a year to local
churches giving all the profits to the organizations.
“For most farms it’s all about the money” Nick tells me, “for
us it’s about helping people that may not be able to afford a tree have that
small piece of Christmas that would otherwise be lost. We sell our trees for 25
dollars no matter the size or shape. A lot of other farms are getting 50 – 60 for
their taller trees.”
His favorite part of running the farm? Driving his tractor.
“Being able to escape from everything even just for a few
hours is great. I don’t have to worry about anything but not hitting trees
while I’m in the field.”
If you would like to get in contact with Nick at Pineberry
you can reach him at (802) 626- 8075. They would love to see you this year and
everyone is welcome.
IReport
So after signing up and looking around IReport, I think this is a great new take on how to cover news from around the world. I mean, CNN can't be everywhere right?
Basically this program allows users to post their own news stories and then CNN can watch and read them and if they think they are good enough possibly use them on their TV news report.
They found a great way to get stories while only doing half the work while also giving upcoming reporters the opportunity to get their names out there.

Audio SlideShow
So I have to create an audio slideshow for class that is 2 minutes long with pictures and an interview. So what was my first instinct to do? This slideshow will be all about life growing up on a tree farm. I will use pictures of Pineberry Farm in Wheelock and interview one of the family members that has lived their whole life there and helped to raise the farm from the beginning. This interview will be a first hand account of what its like to grow up around Christmas trees and what it really takes to get that beautiful tree into your house from start to finish.

Slideshow Critique
Okay so more homework... I know I know.. I'll get to the good stuff soon... Halloween is coming up.. Anyway this time I had to find slide shows and galleries online and critique them.
The first is a Gallery by National Geographic that shows pictures of fall around the world. I believe this does a nice job as you can take your time to go through and read each description of where the picture was taken and the significance of it at your own pace without it automatically changing on you. Here is the link:
http://environment.nationalgeographic.com/environment/photos/autumn-colors/#/autumn-colors_27164_600x450.jpg.
The one downfall to this slideshow is it rounds back to the beginning and might get confusing if there were more pictures.
The second is a slideshow with sound, this is an audio slideshow called human planet on BBC New's website. It chronicles people from all over the world while the audio track is the photographer discussing the pictures and why he took them. This type of slideshow is great for when you want to have a story told not by a distracting video that may take your viewers attention off of the story but still want to give a visual. Her is the Link:
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-12618167
The final is a slideshow without sound, This was the most difficult to find in a specific news story but upon really thinking about it you see them all the time. They are at the top of most websites giving you the top stories of the day or giving you the program schedule for the night.
This is the link to CBS's homepage: http://www.cbs.com. The very top is a slideshow of their shows and when they are on. This is great for when you want to give the viewer a quick rundown of the big stories on your site in a quick way.
Though I don't believe any of these are a better form I believe they all thrive in there in way as I described in each critique. Though I don't believe slideshows without sound are often thought of as popular we do see them much more often than we think so don't be fooled into thinking the are the lesser of the three.

Data Project
The Chart above shows art sale be country in 2011.
According to this research the biggest art buying country in the world is China followed by the United States with Italy being the smallest. Why is that though? I believe this has something to do with the amount of art seen on a daily basis.
China, with the most art sales, is one of two things either highly industrialized and built up or farming country. Art is secluded to museums and to the people who can afford to buy it along with the few monuments that are still standing around the country. So it makes sense that with the amount of people they have and lack of art around them They would spend the most to get it.
Next is the United States, While we have many museums we also have that want to own the beauty in the art therefore we spend a lot to get it.
Finally Italy, in a country that is surrounded by art made by the Romans so many years ago all it takes for them to enjoy this art is to step outside. They have no need to buy what they can experience for free.
So that is my breakdown, there may be a completely different answer but mine sort of makes sense doesn't it?

Passport to Italy
So, I've kind of made up my mind that if I can get the loans from VSAC or Sally Mae I am going to go on one of the school trips in February The trip includes stops in Switzerland, Italy, and France. Honestly when is the next chance I will get to do all of that for under 4 grand and getting college credits in the process, the answer is never. Now before you start in about how I'm getting married and need the money I'll inform you that I asked Nick on his opinion and he said to go for it. He also agrees that I won't get this chance again and wishes he could go too. So now the next step is GET THE FUNDING so its off to apply for more loans. to pay back later. I hope to let you kow if I'm going or not soon!

Data Critique
Okay So another Homework assignment... I promise I'll post something interesting in the morning...
Anyway this week I had to critique a webpage that uses data in some sort of visualized manner.
Here is the link I chose
http://www.governing.com/gov-data/education-data/state-education-spending-per-pupil-data.html
This site takes all sorts of government data and puts them into all sorts of useful charts. These charts start off with the entire countries data but you can narrow it down to a specific state if need be. Which is a helpful feature. The only downfall I see is that the charts can be a little hard to read because there is so much information in them. If they were a little more people friendly they would be great.
I also don't think this information could be brought to us any better way because data is hard to put in someones lap without a visual. Though it may work as a podcast these things are easier to be shown than to listen to.

An Interview
So, to any of my LSC friends who know who the on campus bad Six Feet to Heaven is stay tuned because Thursday I'll be posting an interview I did with them in practice. I'll be asking the typical questions about how they came together but I want to know what you have to ask them. Give me your questions in the comments and we'll see what we can find out from the people who make the sound that is growing a following, and when we can expect to be able to see their first live show of the year.

Wish Me Luck
Well, Wish me luck... My First Night poster is due to the client on Thursday. I have just a few things left to tweak before final printing and matting and then its off. I honestly don't think I have any hope of being the one chosen but I am proud of what I did even if it doesn't.
In wedding news I have started working on the invites. No you cannot see them until they get sent out in the mail. I will divulge they are cutsey sweet and not formal in the least bit... Kinda like us. but anyway back to work. For anyone who wants to read it I will probably be posting homework soon.
Until next week.

What's going on Now?
So, I know I just posted homework but I wanted to let you know what was going on with me. Well yesterday my engagement was announced at church and that seemed to go over pretty well. I think... Anyway, after church commenced photos. Only one of which I really liked... and this is it... and your first view of my husband to be... if you haven't already seen him, his name is Nick.
Other than that I have been working on a poster for first night St. J, and starting work on my senior thesis project. If anyone knows of some cool dilapidated buildings in Vermont could you please leave suggestions in the comments below? I would really appreciate it considering that's the entirety of my project.
Gotta get back to that stuff for in the words of Tigger TTFN ( Ta Ta For Now)
What I did to My Blog
So, sorry to say another homework assignment.
This one I have to tell how and why I changed my blog. So here it goes. First I chose my theme from an online database because I suck at HTML L chose it because I felt it fit in with my blogs theme of being a senior in college and also designing a wedding. Though the one thing I can't do with it is change the font, as much as I'd like to I can live with that. I also added to my about me and changed my profile picture to something a little more fitting for my blog.

Blog Critique
So intermittently I will post homework assignments for a class... and SURPRISE here is the first one.
This assignment was to critique a blog that we read often. Well the only blog that I really read is that of Karis Miller Williams. It it called my crazy life.
Here is the link: http://crazylifeofkaris.blogspot.com/2014/08/oh-conversations.html?spref=fb
I love reading this blog because Karis's posts are genuine. They come from her everyday life. Though I wish the posts were more often each one is filled with the hilarity of her kids, job and everything else that you can think of. That is what makes this blog so great.
Sorry about the homework but this is exactly why I'm surviving Senior year.

And so it Begins
So, I have officially started my senior year at LSC. Which is a great thing when you think about graduation and getting your diploma and moving out into the real world. What you don't want to think about it making it there. Getting in your last minute classes and hoping to god you pass them all or that you didn't miss a requirement that will keep you from walking across that stage. It really is enough to stress you out if you let yourself think that way, but me, I'm not thinking that way at all. I'm thinking that I not only have to make it through all of this I also have to plan a wedding. That's right I'm also engaged. So I also have to throw in dress shopping and decorations and all the things that go along with a wedding. Don't get me wrong I'm absolutely excited about both but its going to be a LOT of work. So keep on reading to find out how I'm Surviving Senior Year.
